Giving to the History Department
The
History Department welcomes gifts to help it provide the best possible
education for undergraduates and graduate students even as it contributes to
the advance of historical scholarship in many fields.
Opportunities to help include:
The History Department Development Fund–which
helps make possible the department’s annual Fleming Lectures in Southern
History, lectures by visiting scholars and conferences sponsored by the
department, the recruitment of new faculty, and meeting other needs of the
department
The Peggy W. Seale Fund–which provides
money for graduate student travel
The T. Harry Williams Fellowship for
graduate students and the Robert Holtman and Gary Crump funds for
scholarships for undergraduate history majors.
Contributions may be made directly on-line by
going to the LSU Foundation's website, by clicking here
(to specify that your donation should go to the History Department,
find the block labeled
"College," then use the pull-down menu to select Department and type in "History").
Or checks, made out to the LSU Foundation and marked for the respective funds, may
be sent to Gaines M. Foster, departmental chair, at the History Department,
Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA 70803, or directly to the LSU
Foundation.
Individuals wishing to endow a professorship,
chair, or make other major gifts should contact Professor Foster or Brian
Landry, the LSU Foundation representative for the College of Arts and
Sciences.
