An excellent faculty willing to provide students with personal attention:
The college has excellent, committed teachers; many of its senior and most distinguished professors teach introductory courses. As a student in the College of
Arts and Sciences, you have opportunities to work one on one with them on undergraduate research projects. You also have the chance to work closely with
faculty members in study abroad programs, Service-Learning courses, and
internships.
Well-rounded degree programs:
The diversity and breadth of the various curricula offered through the College of
Arts and Sciences provides students with a foundational base of skills that can be used not only in the classroom, but in further study or a future career as well. These skills include analytical reasoning, communication, and critical thinking. The Arts and Sciences Communication Studio, Studio 151, helps to hone these important tools, and also gives students a chance to enhance their communication abilities by providing state-of-the-art workspaces and technology for written, oral, visual, and technological communication projects.
Large support staff to assist A&S students:
We have 6 counselors and 4 support staff members to help students with any questions or issues that may arise over the course of the academic year.
Diversity offered in degree programs:
Arts and Sciences offers over 50 different majors and concentrations for students to select from. That’s the most at LSU out of all senior colleges!
Outstanding Accomplishments:
Each year, students from the College of Arts and Sciences receive recognition for their outstanding undergraduate accomplishments. In years past, students have been designated as Truman Scholars, Goldwater Scholars, members of the USA Today All USA College Academic Team, members of the LSU Tiger Twelve, and have received many other distinguished awards. In fact, the only 2 LSU students ever designated as Rhodes Scholars both earned degrees from the College of Arts and Sciences. In addition, during the 2008-2009 academic year, 17 of the 42 LSU University Medalists were from the College of Arts and Sciences.
